I guess I should blog

I haven't blogged for a while so you peeps out there are probably getting pretty antzy waiting for my next masterpiece. Um...well...there isn't going to be a masterpiece this time so you might as well find another outlet for that antzyness. My life is really great. Laie is treating me well, I am doing well in classes (I think. Midterms have not come yet) and life is generally good. I have been working hard the last couple of weeks with work and school and catching up from my trip to Utah, so tomorrow I am having a "beach day." I am going to spend at least 5 hours on the beach and hit at least 3 beaches. It should be great and I think I am going to read Lord of the Flies. It is one of those books that you have to read to be cultured.

Right now, I am enjoying the iPod that I just purchased. It is the 60 Gig picture model and I am coming to realize how much space 60 gigs is. I mean, I haven't even filled up 10 gigs yet! Wow. I have about 2500 songs collected from various friends but I am going to start downloading complete albums off of forums (internet sites that allow users to download information) that way I can choose my music and take advantage of the schools superfast t1-million connection.

Japanese is coming along alright, but I do not want to write anything here right now because I am not in the mood. I just want to speak good old english and be articulate old Dave. Well, young Dave. If you're reading this the chances are that you're older than me.

Speaking of age, I feel much older being 20 than I did when I was 19. I feel like my responsibilities are now truely my own not just mine in the future. Did that make any sense? Let me put it differently. I feel the pressure. Now that I'm 20 I don't have much time to goof off about things like marriage, career, financial planning and so on. It's crazy how life hits you when you least expect it. It's ok though because I feel that I am ready for the onset of the sickness we call life ;)

Alright. I think I've written enough. I have to go pick up my iPod cord from this girl who borrowed it from me a couple of days ago. The power is out now and I can't stand life without my poddy. So, have good lives people, and fill me in about all the good stuff on your blogs.

Birthday Wish

Alright, I am just leaving Utah right now. My trip was enjoyable and peaceful. As many of you know I came here to attend my step father's funeral. It went really well and I am at peace with it now. He is resting peacefully now. But as for me...I'm doing great. I just got my iPod (yipee for me). If any of you have any songs that you would like to contribute to Dave's 60 Gig collection, please, let me know. I am more than happy to accept anything. Also, I got some way cool Aeropostal stuff while I was here.

Alright, so getting to the title of the blog. My birthday wish. My only brithday wish (September 22nd in case you didn't know) is to have my friends with me and to recieve large sums of cash from everybody...j/k. Well, large sums of cash would be nice, but if it's easier for you we can just hang out ;)

I haven't studied any Japanese since my last blog so I can't write any cool new Japanese stuff but I am going to learn how to type in Hiragana! Cool eh? And this weekend I hope to memorize at least 20 Katakana characters. Anyway, It's been fun, and I'll talk to y'all later.

Busosity

I am returning to Utah tommorow for Richards funeral...nothing really to say about that. Except that I am really sad for my mom. Trying to get ready for this trip has been interesting. I have done more pre-catch up work than I have ever done before. Here's a sample of my Japanese skills to date:

Ohaio Gozaimasu.
Anata no namei wa nani desu ka?
Anata no namei wa Ryan san dewa arimasen deshita ka?
Watashi no namei wa Tyson san dewa arimasen.
Watashi no namei wa Tyson san dewa arimasen deshita.
Watashi no namei wa Jonathan san deshita.
Watashi no namei wa Dave san desu.
Watashi wa gakkuse desu.
Dono gakko ga anata no desu ka?
Sainara.

Oh Simple Thing...Where Have You Gone

...I'm getting old and I need something to rely on. You know how it goes. Life is no longer as simple as it once was. Sure things are great. I had a killer weekend with a couple of KILLER beach experiences and basically had the time of my life. But things are weighing on my mind now. I actually have to make decisions. It's not so simple. But all good things are hard right?

Basically, besides my major decisions, I am having a great time. Like I said my weekend was arguably the best weekend I have ever had. I saw a couple of good shows, ate good food, and discovered the joy of the beach. I never knew how great the ocean was. Sure, the water is salty, but there are many other great things that make up for that.

I have been studying some more Japanese. Here is my latest vocabulary in action:

Donata wa are desu ka?
Kore wa isu anata no desu.

I'll keep it to that as I don't know any verbs but desu. Knowing how to convey action and describe objects will really help to expand my speaking ability. Anyway, I'm sure you've heard enough. I'll go now. Peace.

The Lai-izzle Lifizzle

Isn't it grand? The first week of school is over and I haven't failed any classes yet! Or, none that I know of. Life is treating me pretty well. I am pretty well settled in my new room and my room mate Luiz is pretty cool too. I miss Franky, but if I can't have him, then Luiz is the next best option. He is really accomidating and will talk about what's happening in his life. He isn't too good of a friend (which is good) but we might hang out once or twice.

My classes aren't that hard but I can't believe how busy I have been. I will have at least 3 HOURS of homework everyday! That is quite an academic burden. But an hour of it is Japanese and I am really enjoying learning the new language. Here is a display of my skills to this point:

Watakushi wa Dave desu.
Watakushi wa nani desu.
actually...it is better said like this:
Watakushi wa nani desu ka?
Ano sushi wa watakushi no desu.

Alright. I think I've said enough. I think nani is the word for student. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm loving it so far. I have to go watch a friend of mine perform in front of thousands of screaming fans now! Talk to y'all later.
